Julien Pritchard wins the Druids Heath and Monyhull ward to become Birminghams first ever local councillor

Local Green Party activist Julien Pritchard is now known as Councillor Pritchard after winning Birmingham Green Party's first ever seat on the city council for the Druids Heath & Monyhull ward.

The reason he won? - very simple: he said: "We listened to people's concerns and tried to act on them to improve the area."

He added: "It's an area which has often been ignored and even neglected and I'll be doing my best to try to change that."

Julien got 1201 votes, the Labour candidate 725, and the Conservatives 688.

Julien said he wants to make a change in Birmingham for the better, and while he knows he is the only Green on Birmingham city council, he says "Look at the difference that Caroline Lucas has made in Westminster: she is a voice for the environment and the poorest in society: she stands up against austerity and works tirelessly for what is decent and right: all I can do is try and do the same for Birmingham."
